Amazing Hong Kong
It’s a 12 hour shift in time zones from Akron, OH to here. Part of me thinks it’s dinner time, but am really ready for breakfast! We’re staying in our cousins’ home which is an apartment on the 7th floor overlooking Repulse Bay on the south side of Hong Kong Island. The water seems endless and there are lots of islands dotting the landscape. We can also see what looks like an amusement park on top of a hillside!
We arrived last night and made it through immigration without a problem. The drive back to the apartment took us from Lantau Island where the airport is across a bridge, through the Central Business District, through a tunnel to our current location! Tall buildings, lights, cars everywhere, small buildings wedged into spaces that are totally overshadowed by the newer, taller buildings. It’s hard to know where to look first! We had some dinner and had a chance to discuss what sights to see!
The itinerary for today is to go over to Kowloon and walk to Tsim Sha Stui – a Chinese garden and sculpture walk. Then we’re going to the Ladies Market – a combination garage sale and flea market where the bargaining is fierce! We’re also going to the Jade, Bird and Flower Markets. We should have some pictures to load later today!
